If skin texture, fine lines or uneven tone bother you, microneedling is a great option. It stimulates your skin’s natural repair process and collagen production, helping improve firmness, smoothness and overall skin quality. Exosomes are used throughout the treatment. These tiny messengers help signal cells and support skin renewal and cell turnover, enhancing the benefits of microneedling over the following weeks and months.

I do every treatment myself, at my clinic on Pentonville Road in King’s Cross, a short walk from King’s Cross St Pancras and easy to reach from Islington.

What can microneedling help with?

Microneedling is best known for improving skin texture. It can help with:

  • rough or uneven texture
  • enlarged-looking pores
  • fine lines
  • acne scarring and marks left after breakouts
  • dull, tired-looking skin

Most of my clients are over 40 and want fresher, smoother skin without changing their face. Whatever your age, the aim is the same: skin that looks healthy, not treated.

It suits most skin types, including darker skin tones, where it tends to carry a lower risk of pigmentation changes than lasers or strong peels.

It isn’t suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. It’s also not for you right now if you have active acne or a skin infection in the area, a history of keloid scarring, or you have recently taken isotretinoin for acne. We’ll go through your medical history at your consultation.

Why have microneedling with me?

I treat every client myself, so the person who assesses your skin is the person who treats it, every session of your course. I’ll adjust each treatment as your skin changes, rather than repeating the same settings every time. My clients have given me a 5.0 rating across more than 100 Google reviews.

The clinic is at 260 Pentonville Road, N1 9JY, inside Minsony: push the front door and take a seat in reception. It’s a short walk from King’s Cross St Pancras, and Angel is walkable too.

Book microneedling

Most people see the best results from a course, and a course of three is £610. Not sure yet? Book a consultation. It’s £30, fully redeemable against treatment on the day.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, uses a device with very fine needles to make thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. Your skin treats them as small injuries and responds by producing new collagen and elastin. Session by session, that rebuilds the skin’s structure from within.

It’s not about adding anything to your face. It’s about getting your own skin to do more of what it did when you were younger.

What are exosomes, and why add them?

Exosomes are tiny particles that cells release to send signals to one another. The exosome products used in skin clinics are made in a laboratory and applied to the skin throughout the treatment, while those tiny channels are open.

They are intended to support healing, help settle redness and boost the skin’s own repair. Exosomes are a newer addition to skin treatments, and there is far less research on them than on microneedling itself. The early studies are encouraging but small, so I think of exosomes as a helpful extra: the microneedling is what builds the collagen.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

If you have never had microneedling before, I usually recommend a course of 3 to 6 sessions, 4 weeks apart, before moving to maintenance. Collagen builds slowly, and each session adds to the last. Your skin can look fresher after one session, but real changes in texture and scarring come from the full course.

How much does microneedling cost?

A single session is a good way to see how your skin responds. Most people start with a course of three, and the course of six is the best value per session if texture or scarring is your main concern.

OptionPrice
Single session£250
Course of 3£610, saving £140
Course of 6£1,150, saving £350

What happens at your appointment?

Each appointment takes an hour.

  1. Consultation and skin check. We talk through your skin, your goals and your medical history.
  2. Preparation. I cleanse your skin and apply numbing cream to keep you comfortable.
  3. Microneedling with exosomes. I work across your face section by section, adjusting the depth to each area, and apply the exosomes throughout. Most people describe it as a light scratching or vibrating feeling.

You’ll leave with pink, warm skin, a little like mild sunburn.

Downtime and aftercare

Expect redness for 24 to 48 hours, and your skin may feel tight or dry for a few days after that.

For the first few days:

  • no make-up for 24 hours
  • no gym, sauna, steam room or swimming for 48 hours
  • skip retinol, acids and scrubs until your skin has settled
  • wear SPF every day and keep out of strong sun

I’ll go through your aftercare with you before you leave. As with any treatment, plan it for a time when you don’t have an event coming up. I’d allow at least a week before anything you’ll be photographed at.

Microneedling with skin boosters and polynucleotides

Microneedling works on the surface: texture, pores and scarring. It pairs well with treatments that work on hydration and repair. Profhilo and skin boosters add deep hydration and bounce, and polynucleotides help repair thin or tired skin. I schedule microneedling on a different day from injections into the same area, usually at least 2 weeks apart.

My skin treatments guide explains how the three compare and which order makes sense.

Frequently asked questions

Does microneedling hurt?

I apply numbing cream first, so most people find it very manageable. You’ll feel a scratchy, vibrating sensation, a little stronger over bony areas like the forehead and jawline. If you’re nervous, tell me when you book and I can allow extra time for you to settle in first.

When will I see results from microneedling?

Your skin usually looks fresher about a week after a session, once any redness has settled. Collagen takes time to build, so the biggest changes to texture and scarring show gradually over the course and in the months after it.

How long do microneedling results last?

The collagen you build is your own, so results can last several months or longer. Your skin keeps ageing, though, and most people keep results going with a maintenance session every couple of months. If you have never had microneedling before, I usually recommend a course of 3 to 6 sessions, 4 weeks apart, before moving to maintenance.

Is microneedling suitable for darker skin?

Generally, yes. Microneedling doesn’t use heat or light, and it tends to carry a lower risk of pigmentation changes in darker skin than lasers or strong peels. I’ll check your skin and adjust the treatment at your consultation.

Can I wear make-up after microneedling?

Not for 24 hours. Your skin needs that time to settle, and make-up on freshly treated skin can irritate it. Plan your appointment for a day when you can go bare-faced afterwards.

Is clinic microneedling different from an at-home roller?

Yes. In clinic, I use sterile needles to a controlled depth that suits each area of your face. At-home rollers are much shallower and give less noticeable results, and they can spread infection if they aren’t cleaned properly.

So happy with my experience. If I could give Hayley more stars I would. She absolutely deserves them. Made me feel really welcome and put any nerves I had at ease. I felt in very safe hands and would definitely recommend her to anyone. Perfect service. Thank you.

I first came to Hayley last year when I turned 46 and due to a little weight loss and a lot of peri-menopause and mid life stress I didn’t recognise the face in the mirror and everything was starting to go south! A year on with regular appointments and Hayley’s professional guidance and I’m now being asked for ID when buying wine – can’t be a better test than that! While everyone I know just says I’m glowing 🙂 I completely trust Hayley for a) the natural look she achieves and b) her no nonsense advice. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!
